Hello, my new family here at St. Luke. I am so grateful God brought me to this beautiful Spirit-filled church. Let me share with you how I arrived here among you loving people. Last year in late February or early March, I was in the middle of a very personal family crisis. I was a Christian, I believed in the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I also felt like I had a strong relationship with the Lord. However, I did not have any fellowship with other Christians. I needed spiritual guidance - like yesterday.
St. Luke's Lloyd Williams will spend the weekend in jail! As a member of a Kairos team, he will minister to prisoners at the Lee Correctional Institution. Typically, about 55 team members and 42 prisoners will spend the weekend locked up together. The inmates are selected for their potential to be leaders and to bring a positive change in the general prison population.

Dear Friends:

The old joke is that Episcopalians will appear at the pearly gates with a Prayer Book, Baptists with a Bible, Roman Catholics with a Rosary, and the Methodists with a covered dish!  We are a people who believe that the Lord’s Table is not only the sacrament of holy communion but wherever Christ’s followers gather to break bread and share life.

Hartsville is fortunate to have so many good churches, any of which offer more than enough opportunity to grow as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.  We see St. Luke as one of those churches.  We highly value the common Christian faith we share with other denominations, as found in the Scriptures, Sacraments, and the Great Creeds which summarize our vision of the one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We believe that Jesus Christ is alive and at work in our midst.  We delight in sharing His mission across the street and around the world.

Visiting a church for the first time takes a bit of courage.  Everything is new and a bit different.  Our goal is a style of relaxed hospitality and welcome that makes it easy for you to find your way around and get connected.  No one will rush you.  We hope you will return, hang out with us for a while, ask questions, explore our history and ministries, and - should God lead you to do so- make a commitment to faithful membership.

Grace and Peace:
