Core Values
St. Luke United Methodist Church has a rich history and a strong heartbeat. At the center of our life are the things we care most deeply about. These values and passions keep us grounded and full of hope for our future.
  1. We are deeply grateful for those who founded this congregation and gladly embrace our identity as United Methodist followers of Jesus Christ.
  2. We are the fruit of mission, and we are eager to be involved in God's local and global work to bring the Christian faith and its benefits to our world.
  3. We highly value the connections that bind us together across the generations as family and friends.  The support and care we give and receive -- especially in times of crisis and loss -- is very important.  It is in Sunday School classes, small groups, shared mission, informal times, and in keeping of our traditions that these bonds are built.
  4. We intend to maintain strong and creative ministries with children and youth, an emphasis has been with us from the start and is a St. Luke strength.
  5. We are a congregation with many privileges and resources.  We gladly offer ourselves for service and investment beyond the local church.  We see our facilities as a resource for the good of our community and aim at hospitality.
  6. We welcome the shaping power of Holy Scripture and place the Bible at the center of our worship, our study, and our teaching.
  7. We honor the whole of Christ's church in its rich diversity.  As United Methodists we emphasize the common ground we share with all Christian followers.
  8. We know that no single congregation can reach all people, but we gladly offer who we are and invite seekers to take time to discovery the spiritual riches that are here.  Church membership is a mutual covenant to be taken seriously.
